Questions and answers

New starting November 9, 2026

How do I book a trip starting November 9, 2026?
Call the MTA Call A Ride Call Center at 866-535-8781 or use the MTA Call A Ride Mobile App. Customers no longer book or call providers directly.
Which card do I need?
Only your Mobility ID card. Call A Ride and Call a Ride Center cards are no longer required — one card for all Mobility services.
How much do I pay and how?
The fare is $3.00. You can pay the driver, or pay electronically when you book (you can prepay with a credit or debit card). If the fare is over $40.00, you are required to pay the overage.
Do I still sign a paper receipt?
No. The new service requires an electronic signature at the time of pickup, or a photo of your Mobility ID (Uzurv only).
Can I book a wheelchair accessible vehicle?
Yes. Wheelchair customers can now book trips using our WAV (Wheelchair Access Vehicle). Call the Call Center or use the Mobile App and tell us you need a WAV.
Are there new providers?
Yes. New providers have been added to the service to improve service quality for customers.

Program rules

I am certified with a Personal Care Assistant (PCA). Is there an extra charge?
If you are certified for Call-a-Ride with a PCA, make sure you always travel with your PCA. There is no additional charge for the PCA.
How many trips can I take?
You can take as many trips per day as you wish, as long as you do not exceed 62 one-way trips per month.
What if the fare is more than $40.00?
The MTA pays up to $40.00 for each trip. If the fare is greater than $40.00, you pay the amount over $40.00 plus the $3.00 Call-a-Ride fare. For example, if the fare is $45.00, you pay $3.00 + $5.00 = $8.00 in total.
Can I take a round trip, arrange a standing ride or make multiple stops?
No. You cannot take round trips with the same driver, arrange a schedule for standing rides, or make multiple stops. For example, if you are picking up a prescription, the driver drops you off and you book another ride when you are finished.
Can I have a regular driver or call a driver directly?
No. You cannot call drivers directly to arrange rides, request specific drivers or have a regular driver.
Where can I use Call-a-Ride, and how do I know if an address is in the service area?
You must begin and end your ride within the MTA Mobility service area, which includes all of Baltimore City, most of Baltimore County and limited areas of Anne Arundel County. You are responsible for the cost of the entire trip if you travel outside the area. For address-specific information, call Customer Service at 410-664-2030, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Can I use Call-a-Ride to transport my family or friends?
No. The card is not transferable. Only the person issued the card can use it — no family members or caregivers may use your card. Up to two people may ride with you at no additional charge if they are picked up and dropped off at the same locations as you. Misuse may interrupt your service.
Can I book with Mobility and Call-a-Ride for the same trip?
No. You may choose Mobility or Call-a-Ride, but you may not tie up two services for one trip. Double booking is not allowed under any circumstances.
Who do I call with questions about program policies?
Contact Customer Service at 410-664-2030, Monday through Friday. Do not rely on drivers or transportation companies for policy information.
